The Battle of the Somme

Hello,
This week #tunefriday is in honour of the ending of the Battle of the Somme. A pipe tune I learnt from my Dad many years ago.
In the video I play it both down the octave and up the octave.
Enjoy.

  2. Great arrangement. Do you have full score written down? I have a melodeon built in Cologne in 1900, carried by a German soldier through the war and passed down through my family. I play this tune in tribute to all who sacrificed themselves for us. Contact me on djpmelodeon@gmail.com :-)

    1. Dear David,
I do have the full score written down. The melody and first harmony is played on two standard pitched nyckelharpas and the then four 'cello pitched ones. I'll email it to you. :)

    2. You might be interested in the version of me playing it just on pipes. :)

    3. P.S. If you enjoy the arrangement - don't forget there is a donate button on the blog. Or you might think about buying one of our CDs. :)
