My blogger blog about the nyckelharpa. Mostly about pedagogy and hands on teaching, but maybe about other stuff too. A new tune each friday - #tunefriday. The tunes are linked to my nyckelharpa education website: Nyckelharpa Project
A nice and simple Brudmarsch this week. A tune I learnt on the säckpipa, but is brilliant on the nyckelharpa too. I taught this at Halsway in April 2016. I included several of the parts, to the top line is the melody with double stops, the second line is a harmony and the third line is a pizzicato bass line. Love it.

This weeks #tunefriday is a little polska to help with the polska bowing. It's a polska played in two different polskary ways, but have the same principle of polska bowing though the whole tune. A straight 8-note polska and then as a first two beats divided into three polska (also known as a short first beat, long second beat polska, or as I like to call it the dum-dum-de dum de rhythm.
Watch the ensemble video, watch the played through slowly video and then read the dots!
